Bethesda-based chef and restauranteur Jose Andrés and hundreds of volunteers serving his nonprofit, World Central Kitchen, have delivered over 1 million meals to Puerto Ricans impacted by Hurricane Maria. The island continues to recover from the devastating storm, which wiped out 80% of its agriculture industry as well as the entire power grid. Over 3.5 million residents remain in need of food, water, and other basic necessities.

Andrés partnered with chef José Enrique to launch the #chefsforpuertorico campaign, which has so far distributed meals by truck, boat, and helicopter to 60 communities in Puerto Rico.
