Roadside Development LLC, a DC-based real estate firm, announced plans for its $650 million development of 3900 Wisconsin Avenue NW, site of the original Fannie Mae headquarters, and a groundbreaking date of December 1.

The project, called “City Ridge,” will be an urban village, encompassing eight new buildings, including:
– A Wegmans store (DC’s first outpost of the grocer)
– 652 residential units (55 units of affordable housing)
– 153,000 square feet of retail space
– 62,000 square feet of office space
– 150-room hotel
– A health club
– A cultural arts venue on the front lawn

The first phase of development, concluding with the debut of the Wegmans and some retail, is anticipated to take 36-38 months, with the first residential openings happening a few months later. Roadside founding partner Richard Lake expects all of City Ridge to be open within four and a half years.
