Ready to bid adieu to summer in the DMV with flair? Here are a few of the best events in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia in the coming weeks!
â Evening Beats & Movies at The Wharf - A must for lovers of music, movies, and waterfront vibes:
Rock the Dock â Groove to a variety of live music set against the scenic backdrop of The Wharfâs Transit Pier.
August 20 - Uncle Jesse (90s Pop), 7 to 9 PM
August 27 - Pink PaLiSh (Funk/Soul), 7 to 9 PM
Sunset Cinema â Relive classic films under the stars!
August 21 - Ferris Buellerâs Day Off, 7 to 10 PM
August 28 - La La Land, 7 to 10 PM
â Cabin John Movies on the Green - September 5 - Encanto, 7 to 10 PM
â DC JazzFest 2025 â A cultural highlight at District Pier, The Wharf. Expect high-caliber performances from local and national stars in a mix of ticketed and free shows. JazzFest runs August 27 to the 31.
â Berry Picking â a sweet way to wrap up summer!
Homestead Farm (Poolesville, MD) â A favorite local spot just a short drive from Potomac, Homestead Farm opens up blackberry hedges, blueberry bushes, and peach trees for picking. Expect a $4 entry fee per person (kids under 2 are free), and berries run about $4.99 per pound. You can bring your own container or purchase one there.
Great Country Farms (Bluemont, VA) â Offers blackberries and raspberries in July and August, along with peaches earlier in summer.
Butlerâs Orchard (Germantown, MD) â Roughly 30 miles away, open Tuesday through Sunday, this family favorite lets you pick apples and pumpkins, enjoy a farm store, and indulge in apple cider donuts. Prices for apples start at $10 for a quarter peck; thereâs a small admission fee (about $3â$4).
Other noteworthy orchards within an hour or so include Gaver Farms Baugherâs Orchard, Hollin Farms, Rock Hill Orchard, Milburn Orchards, Stribling Orchard, Weberâs Farm, and Hartland Orchard, all offering unique experiences and delicious fruit.
